Vnv nation @ Birkenhead, Hex, 2005

First time I'd finally got around to seeing vnv (blame student budgets ;)) it was a little unusual to see them billed for birkenhead, considering that my home town isn't too far from there. The support came from [:sitd:] who I was equally as excited to see live, getting in just a song after they started (due to the very unusual way that the queue was let in), they were the stompy industrial fun I expected really, managing to get people at the front prancing around with glow sticks throughout the set.

Shortly after vnv came on, Ronan introducting 'themselves' beforehand (I think half the crowd thought he was a bouncer!) and the extra members on stage. Starting off with "honour" I believe, immediately the crowd were dancing like maniacs and enjoy themselves. Ronan doing alot of enthusiastic dancing & getting a few "song gets heavier" comments.

Carrying through old & new tracks from "joy" to "epicentre" to "electronaut", even the chav who's snuck in was enjoying the set & harrasing the entire band with his camera phone. Running over to the encore, Ronan joking how everyone has missed their last train home and finishing on "beloved". They were better than I expected and a damn sight of hyperactivty throughout!
