The mission @ Liverpool academy 3, 2005
My first time seeing the mission live so I didn't know what to expect really, support was from a norweign goth band (who's name I can't quite remember) consisiting of a drum machine & synthesier backing up the guitarists & singer, not bad really but not my cup of tea.
Better late than never the mission finally appear on stage, wayne constantly hugging a huge bottle of 'red' all night. Starting out with "hymn for america" sounding alot 'rockier' than I had actually expected, but the crowd mostly seems to enjoy it. The venue was 'downsized' so obviously the mission are slightly pissed off & keep commenting about it, the silence between songs doesn't help either, but during songs everyone at the front at least seems to be enjoying themselves.
Carrying on through "garden of delight" to "breathe me in", they do start to cheer up a bit (irony aside) the more the gig goes on. Teasing the audience with 2 encores, the first including "deliverence", then ending on an epic 2nd encore of "TOS". Personally speaking they were pretty good even if they weren't entirely enjoying themselves.
